When installing a wall that is retaining a raised patio with pavers, special consideration needs to be given to proper compaction and drainage. The patio should be constructed so water drains away from the structure and does not pool in the middle of the patio. The entire patio base should be compacted to 95% Standard Proctor and in 6" maximum lifts, with a select granular fill. Filter fabric needs to be installed between the base material for the pavers and the wall to help prevent settlement. Upon completion of the retaining wall, generously apply concrete adhesive for Universal Caps and allow the adhesive to dry completely before installing the pavers.

Variable lighting arrangements can be constructed with Rockwood walls. A block can be drilled or cored to accommodate a light source that might be attached to the face of the

wall. It may also be affixed to the top of a wall. It is important to know the wattage for the lighting used and the length of wire necessary for the wall application. These factors will influence the illumination of the wall. Make sure that the connection from the light source to the power source is accessible.
