Creating
unique seating arrangements and greater opportunities
in wall construction, the Classic
Bench is unique to segmental retaining
wall design. Its installation is the same as other
members of the Classic family of products.
A minimum of two courses should
be installed above the course with the Classic
Bench blocks. |

When
installing a wall that is retaining a raised patio
with pavers, special consideration needs to be
given to proper compaction and drainage. The patio
should be constructed so water drains away from
the structure and does not pool in the middle
of the patio. The entire patio base should be
compacted to 95% Standard Proctor and in 6"
maximum lifts, with a select granular fill. Filter
fabric needs to be installed between the base
material for the pavers and the wall to help prevent
settlement. Upon completion of the retaining wall,
generously apply concrete adhesive for Universal
Caps and allow the adhesive to dry completely
before installing the pavers. |

Using
Rockwood, you can
create unique and appealing wall designs through
varied block fascia, size and color. Different
sizes can be incorporated with other blocks in
the Classic family of products to create unique
accents. Straight face blocks can be integrated
with beveled face blocks to create novel patterns
in the wall. Variegated colors may also be used
to create striking yet simple designs in the wall
face. The design possibilities are endless. |

the following options to create more unique and
creative wall designs:

The
ability to match a Rockwood
wall to a development adds continuity and a renewed
purpose to landscape and structural design. The
patented process affixes high quality tiles to
the face of Rockwood
blocks. Available in a wide selection of colors
and styles, Classic Tile blocks are installed
the same way as any other product in the Classic
family of products. |

Variable
lighting arrangements can be constructed with
Rockwood walls.
A block can be drilled or cored to accommodate
a light source that might be attached to the face
of the
wall. It may also be affixed to
the top of a wall. It is important to know the
wattage for the lighting used and the length of
wire necessary for the wall application. These
factors will influence the illumination of the
wall. Make sure that the connection from the light
source to the power source is accessible. |
 |
Enhance
below grade window wells with Rockwood
Retaining Walls. Not only is this type
of application functional in terms of providing
adequate lighting, ventilation and egress access,
a Rockwood wall
is also a cost effective and appealing alternative
to traditional concrete and timber products. An
egress wall can be built with inside corners or
as a curved wall application. If working within
a confined area, the wall can be built vertically
with no setback to maximize land space. |
 |
Creative
options in structural design can be realized with
Rockwood blocks.
An outdoor grill can be surrounded by Rockwood
blocks to create an aesthetically pleasing wall
face. In a driveway, where space is invaluable
- a containment wall can be constructed to allow
for a garbage receptacle or to conceal any other
object from passing view. The design flexibility
of Rockwood, makes
it easy to create any type of structure.
